Meet Our Team
Barbara Scheurer, LPN, CDP
Barbara joined our team at The Blake at Pensacola as our Executive Director. Barbara is an administrator, nurse, and a Certified Dementia Practitioner. With over 33 years of experience in nursing, she has found her passion in taking care of others. She loves spending time with the residents, listening to their stories, and seeing the smiles on their faces light up when you see them. Barbara believes that the most important part of her job is to ensure that each day is a special day for all our residents. Barbara says, “God has blessed me in my journey. My mother had Alzheimer’s Disease, which makes my love for memory care very special and personal to me. I can relate to our families that have to make many hard decisions about moving their loved ones into a senior living community.” In her free time, when she is not taking care of our residents, Barbara enjoys shopping and water sports.
Director of Sales
Paula first joined The Blake team in October 2018 and is now Director of Sales for The Blake at Pensacola. She loves being able to help so many families find a new home for their loved ones.
Ms. Dorsey has a passion for helping families transition into senior living and making sure residents have the best possible experience. Her background includes over 20 years of experience in real estate sales and marketing, management and developing and implementing processes to ensure a high level of satisfaction with families. Her passion is for resident care and helping create a beautiful community experience for our residents that feels like home.
Susan Spahn, RN
Director of Wellness
Susan Spahn leads our wellness team as the Director of Wellness. She is originally from Latrobe, Pennsylvania but her love of nursing and desire to care for seniors has taken her career all over the United States. She has now found Pensacola to be her home but her drive to take care of others is unwavering. Susan is a Registered Nurse with an extensive background skilled nursing care, hospice, CCRC, and assisted living. When asked what her favorite part of working at The Blake was, she says the relationships that are developed – not only with co-workers but with the residents too. She believes that the residents have so much to teach us, and she enjoys spending time getting to know them. When Susan is not working, she enjoys going to visit her daughter and re-purposing old furniture.
Director of Business Operations
Steve is originally from Milton, Florida but his career in the United States Navy has taken him all over. He is now settled back home and is the Director of Business Operations for The Blake at Pensacola. Aside from his extensive military career, Steve has also gained experience as a business owner and has served as an executive director in the senior living industry. He enjoys providing superior care to our residents and their families, as well as giving back to our community. Steve enjoys the challenge of finding new ways to improve systems and providing superior service. When not at work, Steve serves as a volunteer at our local food bank, serving as a caregiver for a senior member of his family, and providing counseling services for others in need.
Director of Dining Services
Pamela Averill serves as our Director of Dining Services. Pamela is originally from Kailua, O’ahu in Hawaii but now serves our residents here in Pensacola, Florida. She has a Culinary Arts Management degree from Pensacola State College. Pamela first started her career working in the hospitality industry for hotels but has found nothing more rewarding than taking care of our seniors. She says, “In Hawaii, our seniors are called Na Kupuna or Grandparents. Our seniors are loved because they have seen the world, raised their families, and adopted our children in need. Our Kupuna’s are the wisdom and strength of our people and they are the most respected on our islands.” Pamela enjoys treating our residents as if they were her own grandparents – with love, respect, and honesty.
Director of Activities
Charline first called Pensacola home in 1997. She has taught adult education and then became a C.N.A. and then an L.P.N. In 2016, she began to pursue her love for the elderly and first joined The Blake as the Assisted Director of Activities for the weekends. She has now been promoted and has the opportunity to be the Director of Activities at The Blake. She believes it’s her pleasure to serve this community.
Director of Facility Management
Patrick was born in Washington, Missouri and was employed by Mercy Hospital Washington for 22 years. He is married to wife, Lori and they have 3 children – Adam, Kaelie, and Collin. They also have a granddaughter named Nola and 2 nephews and 2 nieces that they feel blessed to raise since 2013. Patrick’s family moved to Florida 3 years ago. He loves working with the residents at the Blake and feels he has great bunch of coworkers. When not working, Patrick enjoys kayaking and spending time at the beach.
