Meet Our Team
Susan Connor is the Executive Director for The Blake at Miramar Beach. Susan has more than 30 years’ experience in healthcare management and previously served as the Executive Director at The Blake at Lafayette in Louisiana. She is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and has experience in new development and senior living.
Prior to her career in senior living, she served as the regional director of United Blood Services covering the southern Gulf region. While Susan lived most of her life in Louisiana, she was often a visitor to the Florida panhandle and is excited about this new venture.
Director of Sales
Tori Hughes is the Director of Sales for The Blake at Miramar Beach. She is a graduate of Delta State University with a bachelor’s in Business Administration with an Enhanced Focus in Marketing. Tori has 5 years experience in senior care. She is an active member of The Rotary Club of Destin where she was awarded the District Governor Rising Star Award and Rookie of the Year. Tori grew up in the Mississippi Delta, grew up visiting the beaches of the Alabama and Florida coast and has lived in the area full time for over 5 years.
Director of Business Operations
Alicia is originally from Alabama, but she has been in the Miramar Beach area for over 20 years. She graduated from Northwest Florida State with a degree in Business Administration and is also Florida Core Certified. She has 20+ years experience in all aspects of senior living.
Her favorite part of working with seniors is getting to know the residents and listening to their stories and history. Alicia is also looking forward to the camaraderie and family atmosphere with the residents and the great team at The Blake.
When Alicia is not working, she loves spending time with her “littles” (grandchildren) and enjoying the beautiful beaches in the Miramar Beach area. She is a professed ‘Beach Bum’ most weekends and feels that she is so very BLESSED!
Director of Wellness
Stephanie is the Director of Wellness at The Blake at Miramar Beach. She is originally from Illinois and has been in the area for just over a year. She attended a community college and earned an Associate’s Degree in Nursing in 2008 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Grand Canyon University in 2014. She brings 12 years of nursing experience, including nursing leadership and management, all within the acute care setting.
Stephanie’s loves working with seniors and hearing their life stories and receiving words of wisdom from life experiences. She really enjoys working with the team at The Blake and getting to know the new residents who move in.
When she is not working, she loves to bake, play board games with family and head to the beach for the day. Stephanie believes that her life calling is to be a nurse and a leader, both of which she can fulfill at The Blake and looks forward to meeting and exceeding the expectations of our community in Miramar Beach.
Assistant Director of Wellness
Jackie is a Walton County native and is currently serving as Assistant Director of Wellness. She has an Associate Degree in nursing from Fortis College, Associate Degree General from NWFSC Niceville, and BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association. She has previous experience as a shift leader at an assisted living facility, case manager, medical surgical nurse, and hospice nurse.
Jackie’s favorite part of working at The Blake is being part of a team who appreciates you and makes you feel like you are part of the family. The Blake also values and prioritizes safety, which is important for team members and residents.
When Jackie is away from work, she enjoys spending time with her family and helping new nurses become confident and safe additions to the nursing profession. She plans to start working towards her MSN in Healthcare Administration by Fall 2021.
Director of Activities
Heidi is originally a Louisiana native, yet she has called Miramar Beach her home for 20 years. She joined The Blake with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture & Design Curriculum from Louisiana State University. Her previous experience includes Visual and Interior Design, Special Event Planning and Horticulture and Floral.
She has developed non-profit music & art conservatory for youth, offering music classes in violin, cello, piano & guitar, and art classes, including watercolor, acrylics, ceramics & mixed media. At The Blake, she likes having the opportunity to create activities & events that are unique, fun & exciting each day. Her favorite part of working with seniors is listening to their life experiences and sharing memorable moments.
Heidi fills her free time with gardening, biking, painting farmhouse finds, yoga, bird watching and paddle boarding. She also loves quality time with her family who live in Nashville and Dallas.
Director of Facility Management
Mike is responsible for maintenance, repair, housekeeping, landscaping, and safety at The Blake at Miramar Beach. He transplanted from Wisconsin 5 years ago, where he had a career in building and grounds maintenance. He attended college at UWSP, majoring in Forestry Recreation.
Mike’s career journey began in golf course operations, and he also maintained historic cemeteries. He worked at the National Park Service, superintended airport operations and maintained a luxury hotel. Along the way, he worked at a college food service, ice cream shop and drove a Zamboni.
His favorite part of working with seniors is listening to stories about their past journeys as told by them. In his spare time, he enjoys working on landscape projects, water activities, riding his mountain bike and travelling. He is looking forward to providing a high class, properly maintained community facility that is safe and pleasurable to live at and looks forward to meeting new residents.
Director of Dining Services
Keith serves as the Executive Chef / Director of Dining Services at The Blake at Miramar Beach. He is originally from Louisville, KY. He has owned 2 restaurants in the local area, both of which he designed and developed. In addition, he has been a private hired chef for weddings and special occasions. He was taught by a classically trained European chef from Germany at his restaurant in Bonn Germany. Keith was nominated as best chef on the Emerald Coast for 5 consecutive years in Emerald Coast Magazine!
Keith’s favorite part of working with seniors is seeing how appreciative they are to experience a positive dining experience. He appreciates how professional The Blake is and how dedicated they are to being and doing things at a high level. The leadership team he has met are all a joy to know and work with.
Keith loves to travel abroad, cooking (of course) and gardening. He is truly thankful and blessed for the opportunity to be with The Blake and he is driven to be the best Blake Chef possible!
