It is with great excitement that I write to you today with the good news of a phased reopening plan effective Wednesday, July 1, 2020. With permission from our state and local governing bodies we will be entering our next phase here at The Blake at Charlottesville allowing visitation by appointment.

It is imperative that each of our residents, families and friends adhere to the following guidelines so that we can continue to move forward in or phased re-opening plan. If at any time we feel the safety of our residents, staff or families is in jeopardy we will have to revert back to Phase 0 restrictions.

I understand that you are eager to understand our plans for moving forward. We’re pleased to report that we have no new positive test results for residents or staff since our last update.

We continue to follow CDC and Virginia Department of Health guidelines by restricting visitors and non-essential personnel, practicing social distancing, practicing handwashing, and daily monitoring of staff for fever or illness. Our staff members continue to wear masks while on duty. We have reinforced to our staff that anyone who is sick should stay home.

Throughout the evolving challenges presented by the COVID-19 crisis, I have been amazed at how much our teams, families and partners have shown their love and support for our residents and our efforts to maintain a safe and healthy community. We are pleased to report that we have no new positive test results for residents or staff since our last update.

We are actively reviewing our current visitation protocols to determine a safe plan for a phased re-opening of our doors to families and guests. We understand that the general public will begin to see a softening of restrictions and stay-at-home mandates as government officials begin the process of re-opening our economy. Because our residents are most vulnerable to experience more severe symptoms from the COVID-19 virus, continuing to keep our community healthy and safe remains our priority.

While we are practicing physical distancing and expanded infection control protocols, engagement and joy are still a part of life at The Blake. Last week, we enjoyed delicious personal pizza on our afternoon snack cart, relaxed and enjoyed aromatherapy hand massages and received in room spa goodies and sipped margaritas during our Fiesta Friday celebration.
