7/15/20 Update from Executive Director Austin Payne

Jul 15, 2020 | Charlottesville, COVID-TBAC

Dear Residents, Families and Health Care Partners,

We were notified today that one of our team members has tested positive for COVID-19.   The team member has not been in the community since July 6th. The team member has been evaluated by the Virginia Department of Health and will only be cleared to return to work after meeting the guidelines for healthcare providers set forth by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.  No other residents or staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. We are sending this letter to keep you informed and to emphasize that we are taking every precaution possible to keep you and your loved one well.

As we previously shared, based on CDC and Virginia Department of Health guidelines we have been limiting visitors and non-essential personnel to appointment visitation, practicing social distancing, practicing handwashing, and daily monitoring of staff and resident temperatures for some time now. We continue to actively screen residents and team members for fever and respiratory symptoms. Team members and essential visitors are required to wash their hands upon entry into the building and wear masks while on duty.

We are in the process of investigating any interactions that have taken place in recent days and will continue to communicate any updates, as necessary. Please let one of our team members know if your family member is experiencing any symptoms.  Immediate reporting of any signs or symptoms will greatly assist our efforts to keep the community safe.

At this time, we will continue to allow visitation by appointment as previously outlined. Please continue to schedule your visitation at least 24 hours in advance and adhere to the time limits and required practices set forth while visiting our community. We recognize that many of you have questions or concerns about this situation.  We are certainly happy to answer questions but trust you understand that confidentiality of personal healthcare information must be respected. Please contact me or Gayle Cox, Director of Wellness, at 434-973-7900 if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Austin Payne
