An Update from The Blake at Pensacola
As our nation, state and local community cope with the coronavirus pandemic, we wish to provide you with this important update regarding The Blake at Pensacola.
On June 27th, one of our residents had to go to the hospital for a non-COVID-19 reason. Based on a new rule required by Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration which requires COVID-19 testing by hospitals of all patients, regardless of symptoms, prior to discharge to assisted living facilities like the Blake, we were informed on the evening of June 28 that one of our residents has tested positive for COVID-19. The resident is currently being cared for in a local hospital and may only be discharged back to the Blake after the resident has two consecutive negative test results separated by 24 hours.
No other residents or staff have tested positive for COVID-19 at this time.
On June 5, residents and staff at The Blake at Pensacola (142 individuals) were tested for COVID-19. All test results were negative. Additionally, beginning this week, all staff members will be tested for COVID-19 every 14 days. This is following a new state mandate that takes effect on July 7, 2020. We will continue to monitor residents and staff for fever and the other symptoms of COVID-19.
Because our residents are most vulnerable to experience more severe symptoms from the COVID-19 virus, continuing to keep our community healthy and safe while remaining true to our core values of compassion and joy is our priority. We continue to follow CDC guidelines and the Florida Department of Health mandate which restricts visitors and non-essential personnel to all assisted living facilities in the State of Florida. We are practicing social distancing, enhanced infection control protocols, and are monitoring staff and residents for fever or illness.
We understand the importance of communication and will post updates at www.qslmanagement.com/tbap-covid. Please contact me at (850) 476-1010 if you have any questions or concerns.
