6/26/20 Update from Executive Director Austin Payne

Jun 26, 2020 | Charlottesville, COVID-TBAC

Dear Residents, Families and Health Care Partners,

It is with great excitement that I write to you today with the good news of a phased reopening plan effective Wednesday, July 1, 2020. With permission from our state and local governing bodies we will be entering our next phase here at The Blake at Charlottesville allowing visitation by appointment.

It is imperative that each of our residents, families and friends adhere to the following guidelines so that we can continue to move forward in or phased re-opening plan. If at any time we feel the safety of our residents, staff or families is in jeopardy we will have to revert back to Phase 0 restrictions.

  • Visitation appointments must be scheduled 24 hours in advance via the link below or by calling our concierge desk at 434-973-7900.

  • Due to sanitization schedules, visitation will only be allowed between the hours of 9am and 4pm at this time.

  • To ensure we have enough slots for all families, appointments will be limited to one hour. A limited number of non-essential workers and visitors are allowed in the building at any given time.

  • All visitors must sign-in on the Kiosk at the Concierge Desk and will be screened prior to visitation. Visitors with fever or respiratory symptoms or who may have been exposed to COVID-19 will not be permitted to visit.

  • Visitation may only occur inside of the resident’s apartment or in an open-air space such as the courtyard or balcony/patio.

  • Visitors will be required to wear a mask at all times during visitation, including inside the apartments. We ask that you encourage the resident to wear their mask during your visit as well. Face coverings must be provided by the visitor.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available for use while visiting our community. We remind you to wash or sanitize your hands often including when you enter and exit our community.

  • Please be mindful of social distancing while inside the community. We have signs posted to remind you to remain 6ft apart from other visitors or staff members when possible.

With your help to ensure these guidelines are followed we anticipate continuing forward in our phased approach to move “back to normal” operations which will eventually include some group activities and the use of the dining room. More information about future phases will be provided when our community is ready to take the next step.

We look forward to having you back in our community and as always, if you would like to schedule additional virtual visits with your loved one, please contact our activities department at 434-973-7900.
