This letter is to inform you that we have had 4 more positive COVID-19 cases – two residents and two more staff members tested positive. The residents are not showing any symptoms and are quarantining in their apartments. All residents have been tested except for 3 that are not experiencing any symptoms and prefer not to test at this time. As previously stated, any resident with signs and symptoms of COVID-19 will be tested/retested and treated accordingly.
Both newly positive staff members have not been in the community since Monday, December 7th. As of today, all staff members have been tested and continue to be re-tested if they experience any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. The Blake staff will notify any resident and staff member who may have come in contact with affected individuals and administer a new rapid test between day 4 and 8 of last contact.
Virginia’s current positivity rate is 10.8% with our health district, Thomas Jefferson, having a 4.6% positivity rate. With the increase in both cases and positivity rates in the area, we strongly suggest that all residents remain in their apartments unless there is a need to leave. If you do need to leave your apartment, we require a face covering be worn, as well as the practice of social distancing and hand hygiene per VDH and CDC guidelines. We will continue room service delivery. Activities and salon services remain closed.
We will continue to share information as needed and will send an update when visitation, resident activities, and communal dining are to resume. We encourage you to check our website at blakeseniorliving.com/charlottesville for updates.
