01/24/21 Update from Executive Director Gayle Cox

Jan 24, 2021 | COVID-TBAC

Dear Residents, Families and Staff:

As Albemarle County and the Commonwealth of Virginia continue to cope with a recent surge in COVID-19 cases, we wish to provide you with this important update regarding The Blake at Charlottesville.

We previously shared that 4 residents in our memory care community tested positive for COVID-19.  Upon learning this news, we performed contact tracing and tested all residents and staff throughout the community. 7 additional memory care residents have tested positive for COVID-19.  In total, we are currently caring for 11 residents in our memory care community with COVID-19. Currently all residents remain stable with no symptoms exhibited. No staff members have tested positive.

We will test all residents and staff again on Tuesday, January 26, and are closely monitoring for signs and symptoms.  Anyone showing symptoms before then will be tested immediately.  We are also utilizing hydrostatic sprayers with a bioesque solution, safe for everyday use.  These sprayers with the solution will be used not only for COVID-19 outbreaks, but anytime we have concerns regarding the flu, norovirus or other outbreak risks.

Our vaccine clinic dates remain as scheduled on January 26th, February 16th, and March 9th.  Please contact me or our wellness team if you have vaccine related questions.

We cannot state enough how much we greatly appreciate your prayers, support and understanding during these challenging times and fully recognize how difficult this situation is for our residents and their families. Please contact me at (434) 973-7900 if you have any questions or concerns.
